Can an Atheist have a better spiritual sense than a religious person?
You have to know the difference between spirituality and religion for a good answer.
The fact that a person is religious does not make them necessarily a better person in spirit. There are people who go to church every sunday and follow their religious duties but are gossipers, cranky, glutton, envious, prejudice, wrathful… Although they do believe in spirits, they fail to see that the improvement of their own spirit doesn’t happen by following the religious rules, but by following the greater religious message of love, compassion, tolerance… Many fail to see that.
Having said that there are atheist who do believe in spirits (odd, but I can tell you that without doubts because I live with a person like that). Not only can they experience something spiritual (I believe most atheist don’t), but be more ethical and virtuous than many religious people out there. I’m a spiritist and I can only hope that having some spiritual sense might make afterlife less of a torment and more an enlightenment for atheists (to finally see that God is there and make amends).
