What is a song that describes Your Spirituality the best?
Could be a Christian song.. could be a song about your non-belief, could be a song about your Agnostic belief, or your Buddhist belief… could be anything, does not have to be worship (in fact I encourage it, I can’t stand worship music).
If there is not a song that you can think of that does in fact describe your spirtuallity or whatever… you can also pick a song that reflects your outlook on life.
BQ: What are your opinions on religious music.
Lets keep the bashing of any belief out of this ok?
Hey Shred, im digging the new av man!
From the title, I was going to ask if you meant ‘religion’, or other forms of ‘spirituality’…
For me, although I’m a Pagan {raised Anglican / CofE}, my choice of song isn’t really connected to any religion. It is just transcendingly ‘spiritual’.
It’s also my absolute favourite piece of music, regardless of genre :~
‘Adagio for Strings’ ~ Samuel Barber
BQ : It’s ok for the most part, I guess. I don’t really listen to much specifically religious music {obvious exception of Gregorian chants, and some Gaelic psalms}, other than the Pagan-based band Inkubus Sukkubus, and Jethro Tull, who have made quite a few Christian references in some songs {as well as pagan ones ~ Ian Anderson describes his beliefs as “somewhere between Deist and Pantheist”}.
But I can often find religious {certainly pagan} elements in many songs that aren’t specifically intended to be so…
NB : A note on Gaelic psalms :
I only know about three words of Scottish Gaelic, but, as with the Latin Gregorian chants, it is about the ‘feeling’ these things evoke. They are both vocal-only performances, and the same, yet different. Gregorian chants are known for their very relaxing qualities, whereas Gaelic salm singing is a very aquired taste ~ the sound has been likened to “the voices of the souls of the drowned”…
