I plan on having a Non-Denominational Wedding. Any good resources for planning, finding a church, etc?
My boyfriend and I both come from Catholic families but neither of us follow or practice Christianity. We are both practicing Pagan (Wiccan/Celtic) spirituality. However I still want to be married in a church and have a traditional wedding. So the natural solution is a Non Denominational Ceremony, which we both feel suits us and are comfortable with. I’ve considered an outside wedding but weather is very unpredictable in the Chicago area. Does anyone have any good advice as to how to go about this? What should I expect and so on and so forth. Is it hard to find a church and/or a priest? Any tips or pointers in the right direction such as websites, books, moral support (how to go about explaining to the family) etc would be really helpful. Thanks!
You would have to call around to your local churches and ask, FYI they’re going to require you to go through couples counseling. I’ve been in non denominational churches my entire life and I’ve recently broken away from them because most of them follow the Assemblies of God teachings which are pretty strict and no offense to others on the site, as I’ve said I’ve been in their churches my entire life but the reason I broke away is because what you’re going to run into is they’re very judgmental and I’ll tell you straight up they’re going to judge you big time they don’t recognize Catholics as Christians much less Paganism they consider them a part of the occult. Personally I don’t, I just wanted to give you some information so you have a heads up. Now I’m in MO and here we do have a bed & breakfast which has an old chapel they rent out & I know there are some in other areas too…. that might be another option. Also Episcopalion, Luthern, Methodist & Unitarian are much more accepting and a lot less judgemental. If I were you I would be calling them instead.
